ペットブームの現実

ナッツと一緒に暮らし始めて1年7ヶ月。カワイイだけじゃなくてすっごくしつけとか大変で「思ってたより難しい・・。」と思ったりもしたけれど、それでも家族の一員としてここまでやってきました。
私の周りのダックスママやパパはとってもダックスをかわいがってくれる人ばっかりで、どの子もとっても幸せそうでした。
なので、それまでは、ペットブームの現実って言われてもピンとこなかったのです・・。

ですが、ある日。
だぁさんが、一冊の本を買って私に見せました。
それは「Deep Love 〜パオの物語〜」（右下にリンクがあるのでどうぞ！）
というものでした。内容は捨てられた犬の生き様が書かれているのですが、本当に衝撃的で、その本を読んだ日はすっごく落ち込みました。
その次の日からいろんな所をネットで調べました。
里親サイトや保健所サイト。そこには、あの本に書かれている事はまんざらウソではない現実が。。
他にも無責任なブリーダーで先天性の障害を持って生まれてくる子。その子を一度は買ったけど、飼いきれずの飼い主の飼育放棄。自ら保健所につれてくる飼い主もいるそうです。信じられません。
幸せなコたちがいる現実の裏では不幸せなコたちもいる現実。
最近はすごく、心がふるえます。ホントにホントに辛いです。
今、ナッツをどんな事があってもナッツの生涯はあたしが全うさせる！っていう思いと一緒に自分ができる事で、不幸せなコたちを救ってあげられる何かがしたい、と強く思うようになりました。
それは、日に日に大きくなっています。

私は今、仕事で環境系のサイトをやってるのですが、正直「こういう人たちってなんでここまでできるんだろう。」ってすごく宇宙人みたいな目で見てたんだけど、自分は動物の事になると、自分が今まで思ってきた宇宙人にわたしがなっちゃうんだ。って事がわかりました。

ペットって本当にカワイイ。
でも、本当に大変。病気になるかもしれないし、実際ナッツは皮膚が弱いので病院代もバカになりません。最初の頃は薬や注射や夜間で駆け込んだりで万札がバサバサなくなりました。笑
有給使ってナッツの為に休んだりする事もあったし、正直いって子供みたいなもんだと思います。
でも、子供や人間はしゃべれるけど、犬はしゃべれないんだよね。
目と目をみて、話かけて、こっちが何かを感じ取ってあげるしかない、そういう大変さはすっごくあると思う。
だから、安易な気持ちで繁殖させる気はないし、ナッツのコができても絶対に不幸なコは作らないと誓う。
おんなじ気持ちでペットを飼ってほしい、というよりも一つの命を養う覚悟で今、ペットを飼う事を考えている人は新しい家族を迎えてほしいと思います。

そして、どんな状況でも見捨てないで。

最近、私の祈る事はそんな事ばかり。
命に重いも軽いもなく、犬だから人間だからということもなく、命を養う責任。
それを考えて欲しいと最近、思います。
